"Quotes of the Day" and "Overheard" 12/6/11

male diner in  restaurant to his friend: "I have a 26 inch stick!"

On the same day , I got a massage at the massage school and the therapist said to me (female) "We DID the entire Australian Football Team today!" (my thoughts "sounds like a damn lucky day!)

and quote of the day from me: "Im wearing enough colors today to stop a rainbow in it's tracks!"

"Recession's ultimate price" by Cyndy Cole

"Arizona Daily Sun" 12/4/11

Coconino County is likely to break it's own record for suicides.

Job losses, hopelessness, substance abuse and a lack of help are contributing to suicide rates greater then those during the great depression.

In Coconino County Alone:

35 suicides this year

from 2001 to 2011 there are 21 suicides a year

and in 2011 there were 81 suicide attempts in Coconino County

New York Times 12/31/11 by A. Baker/Joseph Goldstein

"Criminal iffenses are left unrecorded to keep the city's crime rate down"

"More than 1/2 a dozen cops, detectives and commanders are pressured not to take written reports to keep crime stats low"

-----------------------------------------------

My comments:

I was the victim of over 1k crimes between 6/05 and 6/09 yet I can't recall more then once that a cop was willing to give me a report #. The situation was even worse when I moved to rural MD; since the cops made fun of my reports, I just stopped calling them. So even though this article is for new york, i'll bet it's true in every rural and urban area across the U.S.

Everlast - What Its Like

It only took me 14 years to discover the name of this song, and the artist!

In the last 15 years, I have got to say this song moves me deeper then almost any other I've heard. Please listen closely to the lyrics, and/or watch the other video where they spell the lyrics out.

That last scene where the group is on the outside looking in on the happy family, is the scene that resonates most with me.

I hope to increase compassion by sharing this video!
